    if your getting a london taxi which is a black cab then no you wont need to have a car seat.

    most taxi firms wont allow you to take a baby in the taxi without a car seat as it is illegal is is now the law that all children under the age of 12 must be in an appropriate (right size for the child’s age) car seat.

    For a child up to 3 years:
    in a licensed taxi or licensed hire car, if a child restraint is not available then the child may travel unrestrained in the rear. This is the only exemption, and has been introduced for practical rather than safety reasons. You should always think about ways to make sure that a child seat is available.
