If it’s in one of those little Junk boats – an absolute age I expect!

China Lake is only a few miles long so it doesn’t even take half a day. (I live near China, Maine.)

I would assume around 4-5 in modern times.
In 1893, around a month.

On a slow boat from China – a heckovalong time!

considering the poor boat condition they use to have back then, it would probably at least take them six month to one years before they reach United States! Even with the technology we have on our boats today, there is still unpredictable weather change, and it is still very dangerous. Back then, boats are made out of wood, So it would be pretty difficult i say to protect it self from harsh weather. And it is very slow compare to modern boats, if there was a storm that takes place, the boat will probably be off track and it could take month before they are back on track. So i wouldn’t doubt it takes at least six month if not more to get to United States, that is with out major weather change, (storm, hurricane etc.)and any repairing of the boat happening on the way.

In 1893 its about 2-3 months. In modern times, I would expect its still about a month. The Pacific is a very big ocean.
